Just in case we haven't converted enough Burners to the love of Pig this year... Playa Q will be performing BBQ Magic at a decomp near you soon.

This Weekend -- Oct 6 - 7 -- Rev Smoke is bringing his magic rubs to the Michigan Decompression. TBone, Athena, Cueball, Hooker Clown, FunSize, KingSize and Cooky will all be helping out where we can. And Beefcake and Buffy will be handing Rev shots of patron in true Carney fashion!

This Sunday -- Oct 7 -- Soss Boss is leading the troops on the west coast including Chef Pimp and Dante to feed and amaze the masses at the San Francisco Decomp. Soss also plans to launch his Playa Q 2008 art project this weekend... don't forget... Vote Pig!!!

Finally, Rev Smoke, Zeke and Cooky are working on a plan to unleash smokey goodness at the New York City Decomp the first weekend of November... stay tuned for details...

Playa Q most certainly did not fuck around at Burning Man 2007!

Our pre-planned activities including two Carne Armada runs on Media Mecca and the DPW, the dinner that shall not be named, the Ancient Gallery's awesome black light artwork display, the Uber Bar's drinks and entertainment, and Rev Smoke's Sunday Night Fire Bar were fabulous! Our camp rocked thanks to the hard work and dedication of many. The art and gifting changed lives and lit up faces with smiles throughout the week.

Perhaps most importantly, the Q swung in to action to support the Man rebuilder crew during their heroic efforts to build Man 2. Unplanned but fabulous food gifting also went out to the Big Rig Jig crew and to Acavallo. Thank you to all who brought the Q to life this year -- from the rock stars like Soss, Rev Smoke, Dante, Chef Pimp and many more, to the dish washers to the White Dragon Noodle Crew who contrbuted noodles to our Man feeding, to the BRC Residents who entertained us during our "10 Second Freakshows" earning themselves the Playa's Best Damn Pulled Pork -- Thank YOU! You made my 12th burn magical!

I hope we had a chance to serve you...

We're going off line and in to the Dust! Soss Boss and the food truck have left Idaho. Rev Smoke has touched down in Reno and headed for the Playa. Willy is stuck in the Chicago airport but will find a way to Reno. Cooky is printing the last of the schedules. San Diego is packing. Detroit is on the Move. Chicago is rolling. Florida is flying.

Booze is ordered.

Yes the official last day to join Playa Q was July 13... but for those drunk and disorderly folks who missed the date and still want to camp with us we have room for about 10 more Playa Q camp members. This year's Playa Q art will include:

The Carne Armada

The Playa Q's first ever mobile performance art piece, in 2006 the Carne Armada successfully 'attacked' the builders of the Man, the builders of the Temple, Burners without Borders and the Flaming Lotus Girls with gourmet food, vodka ice pops, assorted drinks, concubines and concubones, entertainers, music, dancers and surly butlers who cleaned up the mess.Lasting precisely one half hour and done by surprise with a 'mole' in each camp. Each group of people were overwhelmed with food, drink, healing, entertainment and love that the Carne Armada provided.Many a burner were brought to tears, often with rack of lamb, a hand massage and chilled white wine.Different themes prevailed during each attack and upon their return to camp, it was often difficult to determine who had more fun, the attackers or those who were attacked.

The Fire Bar & The Chapel of Smoke

Separate from the Playa Q kitchens, the Rev. Smoke and Ubercarnies will create a structure designed to house all Playa Q smoking operations.After a week of smokin' meat, the Chapel will convene the Fire Bar, combining the best BBQ you've ever had, with live performance and music.This year, enhanced by the Pork Protection Patrol and the Bacon Dancers, the Fire Bar will further our unique art form, performance BBQ.

Who is Q?

The campers at the Q work hard and play hard. We are dedicated to maximizing our Playa experience and believe that every second in Black Rock City is a valuable. The Core (the Core Planning Committee) works 12 months out of the year organizing the Q village and Playa Q art in order to create magical experiences on and off playa. Our goal to attract campers with the same mind set.

Our kitchen is filled with folks who chase strangers out with meat cleavers if they 're slowing us down. The Admiral of the Armada plans our attacks down to one-second increments. Those certifiably insane Ubercarnies, yeah, the ones who built the Roaster Coaster, run our bar, hand out the beatings, and take bacon very very seriously. Our Executive Chef cooked for Madonna and the Dead. Our Smokemaster won the New York State Rib Competition in only his second BBQ contest. Our Maitre 'D sat Al Gore on his first night of work at opening of the Red Room in New Orleans.

Get the picture? We 're a dedicated group of highly focused, obsessively driven and multi-talented individuals committed to the creation of a truly unique form of art, that combines the most basic human activity, with constantly evolving collaborative stimulation, to create magical experiences.

From two guys and a grill to 150 campers, multiple art projects and some serious vision, the Playa Q has grown dramatically.

The Playa Q creates multi-sensory performance art. We cook the best BBQ on the playa. We celebrate the artists and do-ers that create Burning Man. We take food and drink and sensory celebrations to new levels. We build a State of Nevada health department certified restaurant quality kitchen in the desert. We serve thousands of meals. We create magic.

Q Timeline

2003 - the Soss Boss launches the Playa Q with Grill master Kinski, a Grill Squire and a Witch they rock the conglomerate village with a range of tasty BBQ treats.
2004 - Playa Q grows into an enclosed restaurant space with nightly multi-course gourmet BBQ dinners.
2005 - Playa Q spins off from the Glom and begins public food give-aways.
2006 - Playa Q grows to 140 campers, hauls in 2 tons of food and 6 tons of restaurant quality gear to feed over 3,000 meals, the Carne Armada sets sail.
2007 - The Q is stronger than ever and ready to serve. Carne Armada will sail again. Camp lunch will celebrate and nourish those who give their energy to the Q to make magic on the playa. Cooking competitions will pit the best against the best for the coveted title belt. Reverend Smoke and Ubercarney's Pork Protection Patrol ups the ante with the founding of the Chapel of Smoke and an enhanced Fire Bar. Rock Star Dinners will celebrate the people who make the best art, the best camps, and do the hardest work on the Playa. More public engagement. More art. More BBQ. Howdy all,

Just wanted to give a wee update on some of the art projects. First off, there are no Rock Star Dinners, so don't even ask (but if you do ask, ask me so I can tell you why we don't have them).

The Carne Armada is coming along ship shape I would expect, haven't heard from the Admiral, I guess he lost my cell phone number, so if ANYONE needs to call me (yes, I still do things the Al Bell way), 305.304.0898.

Fire Bar, that top secret, the rev is keeping all plans under wraps.

QPS, my pet project for the year is starting to take shape. While in SF, I had a long talk with Harley (head of theme camps) about the project and she was quite amused (that is if rolling your eyes, going what else will you crazy fuckers think of next means amused), and she's going to work directly with me and my delivery coordinator, a virgin named Bubblz, to identify the most deserving camps in the most appropriate order. If we do it 6 days, that 2 hours (i.e. 4:00 and 5:00) on each day for 4 days and 2 days for the art projects, one in the esplanade ring, one in deep space. I've priced out 2 small portable hot boxes that can carry 4 full sheet pans a piece so that means 8 camps a day for a total of 48 lucky QPS receipients of the week. We're scavenging Idaho lookin' for a woman named nipples who has a flying saucer were allowed to use, and if anyone has a line a good, cheap, gas powered 4 person art car that is on the small side, I'd be interested in talkin.

But now the real reason for this post. Don't you think that the Head of our Camp, the one that leads by example, works as hard as anyone, should fuckin' learn how to cook bacon. It constantly amazes me that here is a normally bright jack ass who just can't seem to figure out to cook bacon. Oh, he tries to cover it up by using an authoritative command like, cook me some bacon bitch, but it's really a poor excuse for his horrible insecurity about not being able to even cook perhaps the most easy of fried meat ('cept maybe brown and serve sausage, but I bet he has problems with that). The PlayaQ has had a long standing tradition of the leaders of the camp be willing to do any job that needs done, and yet somehow, this year's co-HMFIC of camp can't even cook bacon. It really just amazes me. Therefore, in a demonstration of tough love, I'm encouraging that NO ONE in camp cook bacon for willy until he can prove to us that he can, in fact, cook bacon himself. For the whole camp. I think Tuesday morning would be a good day for a Willy's Bacon Bonanza.

What is a FOON!!! you ask (yes, it is always spelled in CAPITAL letters with no less than 2 exclamation marks!!!)

Why thank you for asking, a FOON!!!! is a nifty device invented last year by Q-Camper Seven. It an amazingly simply, and ultimately wonderful combination of a spoon and a fork. Far better than those cheap plastic sporks you got in elementary school with your nasty-ass school lunches, a FOON!!!! is what you can eat PlayaQ Camp Lunch with and look extra cool while doing it. Everyone will ask, "Where did you get that... that... that amazing THING??!?!"

"Oh, my FOON!!!! Yeah, all Q-Campers get one, it's because we're just that cool.", you'll respond nonchalantly as you twirl your FOON!!! around between you fingers with cunning dexterity.

And for all those hippies out there, know that by providing all our Q-Campers with FOONS!!!!!, we're lowering our solid waste output, descreasing the world's carbon foot print, conserving energy and helping stop world over-population (FOONS!!! are proven to reducde the likelihood of unwanted pregnancy).

So to get every Q-Camper their very own FOON!!!! We need to being collecting large, sterling silver, forks and spoons. That's right folks... sterling silver, and you said you never got anything with your dues. Raid your mother's silver chest, toss your grandmothers mattress, do whatever it takes, but go get'em. Then, once you have abscounded all the silver you can muster, send it to Grillmaster Kinski who is the Q's designated FOON!!!-maker.

We'll send out that information soon, and don't bother asking him, he doesn't even know he's our FOON!!! maker. Not yet, at least, we'll probably tell him someday, hopefully soon, the man burns in... well, something over 100 days... I hope...

Member Accounts and Other Web Stuff

We are still finalizing the backend structure of the website and then will be updating content soon. Because of this some PlayaQ members have user accounts and some don't. This is only because all the admin forms are not yet in place and we have to manually add them at them moment. Once that changes member accounts will be added quickly. If you are on the CoreQ list, there is a good chance that you can log in now. Just click on the link to get your password sent to you and try the email address you use with the CoreQ list. Once you have logged in please go to your account info and update it.

Once Willard Synard Devotionliner and Rev. Smoke finalize some of the business logic next week everything should be in place. Please be patient.
